Sense Waiting
Next time you find yourself waiting in line or waiting for someone, I invite you to play with this awareness exercise:
Take a deep breath in, close your eyes and notice what you notice.
First tune into the sounds around you — cars, air conditioners, people’s voices etc.
Then what smells you are smelling, tastes you are tasting, fabrics you are feeling. Notice your posture and straighten your back to bring awareness to your body position.
Take another deep breath in as you open your eyes to a “soft focus” (imagine a lioness gazing, rather than hunting) and notice the colors and sights around you.
This easy practice tunes you into the present moment and the breath provides a much needed break from the typical rush, rush mode.
Using this exercise a few times a week can bring an extra measure of patience and peace into your busy life. Who doesn’t crave more of that?
