Mindbody Clarity Wellness Tip:
Your Quick Switch to Freedom, the Mindbody Wellness Way
Dear Awesome Woman,
Oftentimes, we’ll have a quick emotional reaction to a circumstance. As you’ve heard me say many times before, it’s important to feel those emotions. Whether it’s anger, sadness, grief, jealousy, annoyance, frustration—whichever shows up, be honest with yourself. And feel the sensations in your body. Let your inner child rant and rave—let her be heard. Have a temper tantrum or a meltdown. Let that energy flow.
But here’s a quick switch that can help you after you feel that emotion—ask yourself this one question:
“Who would I be if I felt safe in this moment?”
And then just listen.
For me, when I do this, I notice an audible switch to a different sensation in my nervous system. I feel safer and with feeling safer, my thoughts open to possibilities that I wasn’t open to before. I have a different attitude or take different actions because of this switch. There’s a sense of freedom.
A famous Rebbe once said that “You are where your thoughts are.” There is an energetic component to thoughts and when we can choose other thoughts, our energy shifts, opening us up to a world of better. Better relationships, better circumstances, better career choices, better health.
I invite you to try this freedom switch: Feel your feelings and then ask yourself the question of “Who would I be if I felt safe in this moment?”, then listen.
Let your mind and body expand.
