Empowerment Helps You Release the Resistance to Change
Empowerment Helps You Release the Resistance to Change
Mindbody Wellness Clarity Tips
Dear Awesome Woman,
I share some thoughts here with you in hopes that you will find comfort in their wisdom and grace:
Predawn, I wander outside to sit in my garden. The sky is dark, the stars sparkling amidst black velvet wonder. Though many changes in life I reluctantly resist, the dawning of the morning I don’t—not that I could halt it if I tried. But isn’t that true of other changes as well? We can’t halt them, but do attempt to try. Age-changes, relationship-changes, career-changes—these are a part of the natural scheme of things. Life changes.
People drift apart, children grow into teens, hormones change, emotions flow, money comes and goes, work and the economy have upheavals, time grows us older and just like the sky shifts in color as the sun rises, these shifts are meant to be. And as I peacefully admire the stars fading and the sky lightening, and hear less cricket song and more bird chatter, I welcome the changes, the waking up of the earth. No resistance, no brakes on, it just is.
The questions I ask myself are this: Can I do the same with the changes in my life? Can I be a willing observer and welcome the new, adjusting to what is? Can I acknowledge my own empowerment within a positive framework?
My intuition whispers—Yes, I can— “I am strong, handling change with beautiful grace. My emotions come and go, flowing wisdom along their journey. There is so much new to learn. The old folds into fresh beginnings, integrated and slightly shifted. My ego lets go of false expectations and stale beliefs. I can begin my day.”
This past year has brought much change upon the world—both the world of the individual and the world at large.
How are you managing?
Some people I speak to have welcomed the change—a somewhat slower pace to life. Others, their lives have been upheaved and disrupted greatly. The marriages that they’ve tolerated have become intolerable, the relationships they had, shifted, the work they did, changed. The news of life and death, sickness and health became prominent in the press and all around us. A trip to the grocery store became a question of, “is it worth the risk?”
Whatever has been your experience, please treat yourself with kindness and compassion. Your adult-self along with your inner-child have faced challenges before, but the pandemic certainly ramped up the intensity of these challenges. All parts of you need comfort and an affirmation of how strong, courageous and magnificent you are.
Here are a few suggestions to make change easier, for just as the sky shifts in color, so does your life. “To become attached to an opinionated label of depressed, divorced, diseased, rejected, or poor, is to be like the rain, that doesn’t know it is also the clouds… or the ice, that forgets it is water. For we are far more than the shape we’re currently in. And we, like the wind, water, and sky, will change forms many times in our lives, while forever remaining beautifully human.” Angel Chernoff

As Anita Moorjani says—see your own magnificence.
-
When you see your own magnificence, the bad habit of compare and despair falls away, giving space for your mind to google the awesomeness of your being. Everyday (or whenever you remember) make a good habit of jotting this phrase down in a journal or on a white-erase board, “Never take anything for granted…” And then write a bunch of things that you truly don’t take for granted including some amazing things about yourself.
-
Unravel thoughts that are just not true—the ones telling you a painful story about yourself or a situation that you feel trapped in. I can help with that using a variety of mindbody tools that will help shift neural pathways through helping you access the wisdom of your body. I invite you to schedule your 20 minute free Clarity call to see how we can work together. As Barbara Sher says, “it’s only too late if you don’t start now.”
-
Never reject your emotions—they are here to share amazing insight with you. You don’t have to be ruled by your emotions (The Hybrid Car and Mind Over Body), but you do need to pay attention to the wisdom they may be trying to share with you through your body’s reactions. Again, somatic wellness can help with that.
-
Bring delight into your life every day. It can just be a moment in time that you notice the clouds moving gently through the sky, the dew drops resting on a flower petal, the sounds of your house. Your nervous system wants to feel safe in the world that we are living in. Finding delight everyday helps it do that.

With your hand over your heart, whisper to yourself, “I am strong, handling change with beautiful grace. My emotions come and go, flowing wisdom along their journey. There is so much new to learn. The old folds into fresh beginnings, integrated and slightly shifted. My ego lets go of false expectations and stale beliefs. I can begin my day.”
