Chicken Wire, Self-love and Boundaries
Chicken Wire, Self-love and Boundaries
Mindbody Wellness Clarity Tips
Dear Awesome Woman,
Love is … making fences around what is important to us.
A few years ago, before I found a solution, it was so disheartening after spending an afternoon of planting tulip bulbs with wonderful expectations of next Spring’s blooms to find holes and half chewed pieces lying in the dirt the following morning. I learned that squirrels just love to dig the bulbs up, take a few bites, and then discard them. When I googled what could be done, the suggestion was using chicken wire so that the squirrels couldn’t get to them.
That is now what I do and what a beautiful lesson in life. When you have something that you love to do with your time or something that is important to you, creating protections around that what is precious is a key part of respecting yourself. Julia Cameron speaks of this often in her books when it comes to blooming your creative soul. The lesson can be used in everything you do. As I’ve mentioned in newsletters and social media posts, Kabbalistic wisdom includes both the energy of chesed which is giving as well as the energy of limiting, which is gevurah. Of course, we want to be givers in life, but giving ourselves permission to put fences, aka boundaries, around our time, our desires, our creativity, our soul callings, our relationships and our health (including down time) leads to self-wholeness and harmony.
Blessings for happy planting whatever it is 🙂 May your spirit bloom.

“The healing work that I experienced with Miriam’s somatic therapy gave me confidence. Miriam offers generous time to support a process that shifted my energy. When I think of describing Miriam several words come to mind, here are a few: kind, funny, real, insightful, and empowering. I appreciated her language, attentiveness, and ability to create space to understand the process. Many thanks to Miriam Racquel and consider working with her, I’m glad I did.” – R.K, New York
Enjoy my recently released memoir, God Said What?! #MyOrthodoxLife. It was an 8-year long journey of birthing it into the world, but a worthwhile one indeed to share this tale of love, humor, faith, and Kabbalistic mystical happenings.
“From the beginning of the book, Miriam’s writing takes the reader along on her engaging journey. It is a beautiful love story that is totally intertwined with her deep spiritual adventure. Told with humor and honesty, you feel like you are there, pondering life’s decisions along with her. Many of the questions Miriam explores about relationships with faith and her husband are universal — I even found myself re-examining my own thoughts. This book is full of light – you can’t help but feel uplifted after reaching the conclusion. Great read for a book club – lots to discuss!”
