Mindbody Wellness Clarity Tips
Dear Awesome Woman,
Ever loop a negative situation around in your head repeating the same message over and over? There are many mindbody techniques to deal with this kind of rumination and the emotions that surface including dropping into your body and the ROAR! process, but there is another thing you can do too. You can “give it meaning.”
I first heard this concept in a class from Gedale Fenster. When you give something meaning it changes the brain’s pathways from constantly repeating the memory of the difficult event.
A break up with a friend: Give it meaning—”Wow, we have given each other so much good over the years, and now it seems it is time to move on. Relationships don’t last forever, but I cherish the positive experiences we had together and the gifts that we shared with one another.”
A job loss: Give it meaning—”Okay, this hurts for now. I know that other people have lost jobs before and as long as I’m willing to put myself out there, other opportunities are available. There’s something that a different position will bring me that I didn’t have before. Resiliency is one of the keys to a life well lived.”
A difficulty with a neighbor: Give it meaning—”Better boundaries need to be established. I can also look at what I can do better to promote peace.”
An interaction with a narcissistic co-worker: “Okay—that really felt like yuck! I guess I’m being asked from the universe to shore up my feelings of self-worth, take moments to honor myself and to use my spidey senses to notice when something or someone feels off. Paying attention to a sense of being manipulated or emotionally blackmailed is a really good thing! And recognizing the signs of a narcissist is an important life lesson.”
Our minds are like Google machines. What we put in there searches for more and more similar information. If we make mincemeat of ourselves and ruminate on the negative of a situation, our mind will google and grasp for more proof of how we messed up or failed. But if we give something meaning, then that deeper anchor will help the mind google more profound, soul based purposes of events. These are positive launching pads for the future. As humans, we are so fragile yet so resilient. There are not problems to be solved, but journeys to be walked. Nothing is singular, everything is connected. Let your mind connect the meaning of an event or difficulty with the deeper meaning of your life and the path that you are walking.

“I wanted to overcome fear about dealing with difficult people and situations that reminded me of interactions I had with a parent when I was younger. I was able with Miriam’s help to sort out, and express my feelings of anger, fear, and helplessness and to release them. Miriam helped me craft responses to several people that would have been very hard to do on my own. She helped me gain clarity and a sense of peace with my decisions. She is a smart, compassionate, and gifted advisor.”

“I have struggled with IC and realized that in order to heal I had to address the mindbody connection and underlying emotional issues. I started working with Miriam and was able to get a lot of clarity as to how past events, traumas, trapped emotions are directly related to my physical symptoms. I was able to release a lot of emotions and feel empowered to take my healing into my own hands. Miriam is very intuitive and compassionate, which has also helped in other areas of my life I have been struggling with. I am grateful to be on this journey to healing and to have a very gifted healer to help and guide me on my path.”
