Strength is Sticking to Something You Know is Important
God Said What?! Inspiring Words for Life
Dear Awesome Person,
There is a strength to sticking to something you know is important. I’m using the word “sticking” instead of “staying with” because it takes grit and glue to ride the waves of challenges when you’re trying to accomplish something that is meaningful to you.
In Hebrew, there is the word “ratzon” — it means “will” or “desire.” As Tzvi Freeman, Senior Editor at Chabad.org explains, “You have thoughts and feelings and words and actions, but transcending all of them is an all-encompassing will and drive. Usually what drives you, what you really want out of life, is hidden from everyone that knows you, even from you yourself. If you think you’ve got it figured out, you’re on the wrong track. It’s not something you can put your finger on, because it’s the core of what keeps you ticking. You can’t know it, you can only be it.” (The Letter Chaf, Chabad.org)
It took me 8 years to write my book, God Said What?! #MyOrthodoxLife. A very long 8 years with lots of setbacks—emotional, sometimes physical (temporary carpal tunnel), and the inner gremlins always present. “Why bother?” they would whisper. “What’s the point?” they would ask.
Doubt flooded and the door was always open for me to quit.
But I persisted because it was so important to me. It’s a book that shares hope for a brighter future. It shares laughter and love. It shares purpose and meaning and wise ancient teachings. These were the whys that pulled me forward and kept me on track through the difficult moments. I had a will to birth this book into the world.
If you have something you feel called to do, know your why. Tap into the empowering energy of your strong will, your ratzon, to keep going even when it gets tough and challenging. The world needs your sharing.
God Said What?! #MyOrthodoxLife is close to its final completion. I’ll be receiving the final proof within a few days time and then it can be purchased for you to enjoy 🙂 It is almost ready to find its readers and shine its light.
