Monday Marriage Magic Tip #49: Commitment vs. Disposable
Marriage Mindbody Magic
Dear Awesome Woman,
“Today there is little social or economic pressure for a couple to stay together. Just as tablecloths, plates, cups, and spoons are now disposable, so is marriage. You try it; if it works, great. If not, get rid of it and move on to the next.” – Rabbi Ben Tzion Shafier, “The 10 Really Dumb Mistakes That Very Smart Couples Make”
Often the most healing work you’ll ever do on yourself is through a marriage. I’m not talking about a marriage that is abusive or impossible to maintain because one partner is on the extreme manipulative side of the Narcissist/Borderline spectrum. With these marriages, the healing comes from leaving. But I’m talking about most marriages with the ups and downs, the disappointments, the personality flaws, the traumas and wounds, and the imperfections.
I do believe with Somatic Healing methods and marriage skills, a woman will find her higher level of being and be able to have a beautiful marriage. As Gedale Fenster says, “if you’re 50-70 % satisfied in your marriage, then it’s a good marriage.” This is a shocking statement (but realistic one) and a big difference from what the world tells us about marriage.
And of course, if a husband decides to get help as well through the Couples Program my husband, Dovid Feldman, and I offer, then that’s fantastic.
It all comes down to commitment.
Marriage Magic Tip?
Don’t sit on the fence with one foot in and one foot “maybe.” Be committed and do the work from within — within yourself and within the marriage.
“It (commitment) is the framework that creates trust, safety and love. It inspires real romance, allows for true intimacy, and connects soul-mates for a lifetime.” – Dovid Feldman (Enjoy the full article here which includes a bit of our story 🙂
Need a helping hand? If you’re a woman who would love to enjoy a peaceful marriage and home and be empowered as an individual, Somatic Healing & Marriage Magic skills can help you achieve that!
It’s only too late if you don’t start now. Often people wait while things are sliding downhill. It’s just not smart to put your most important relationships (the one with yourself and the one with your husband) on the back burner.
